Mahaquizzer 2008

Details of Mahaquizzer 2008
Mahaquizzer, KQA’s annual solo championship, will be held on Sunday, 18 May 2008. This year’s quiz is set by Ochintya Sharma, Thejaswi Udupa, Avinash Thirumalai and Arun Hiregange.

The contest will be held simultaneously in nine cities: Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram.

Four prizes will be given out in each city: Best Quizzer, Best Lady Quizzer, Best College Quizzer and Best School Quizzer.

The person recording the highest score across all centres will hold the title of Mahaquizzer for 2008. She/he will also be awarded the Wing Commander G.R. Mulky Trophy for Quizzing Excellence.

Mahaquizzer is a unique contest, requiring the participant to answer 150 questions, drawn from as wide a spread as possible, in 90 minutes. It is open to all and entry is free. Those interested in participating must mail Mahaquizzer@gmail.com or kqaquizzes@gmail.com, mentioning which city you would like to appear from in the subject line.

If you would like more information , or if you have problems registering, please call us at 097312-14519.

Please do try and register by Wednesday 14 May 2008. City coordinators will allow on-the-spot entries if seating is available, but in the event of a space-crunch, first preference will be given to those who had registered before the deadline.

You can have a look at previous editions of the quiz here: http://kqaquizzes.org/quizzes/

Individuals who have registered online have been sent confirmatory emails. A city-wise list is put up at http://community.livejournal.com/kqaquizzes/96395.html

No more online registrations will be accepted. People who haven’t registered by email must contact their City Coordinator. We would like to accommodate every interested quizzer, but this will depend on the seating available in each venue. City Coordinators will use this criterion to decide about accommodating late/on-the-spot entries.

Are you sure Mumbai has only one Landmark outlet? What’s the precise location anyway - Infinity Mall in Andheri?

  16. Ashwan on May 11th, 2008 8:56 pm

Yep, there is only one Landmark store in Mumbai (as far as I know, Chennai is the only city which has more than one Landmark store.)

The store in Mumbai is located in the Infiniti Mall, Andheri (W). It’s the mall located a couple of buildings away from Fame Adlabs.

I’d like to knw if the timings are fixed or are they gonna be changed after getting all venue’s? If i remember last year the quiz was from 11 am or 12 noon. Please if u can make it to 11 am some people who reach the venue’s from nearby districts can also make it without much trouble. Even a 30 min change will be very much appreciated.

  20. kqaquizzes on May 14th, 2008 12:39 am

The timings are fixed. Mahaquizzer has always been held at the time given above.

We are constrained by hall-hire arrangements and other such problems and therefore cannot make any changes to the schedule.

  21. raktim nag on May 14th, 2008 7:56 am

  24. athith on May 14th, 2008 9:19 pm

is a school study certificate dated 2-5-2008 enough as a proof for a school student

  25. kqaquizzes on May 15th, 2008 2:23 am

    @Raktim:
Please write your name in full when you get the Mahaquizzer paper in hand. You should perhaps begin planning your journey to the venue now.

    @Atith
Depends on what the school study certificate says as well.

  26. athith on May 15th, 2008 8:03 am

it tells the full name , birth date and the standard in which i study. is it alright.

  27. kqaquizzes on May 15th, 2008 9:45 am

    Should be fine.

  28. ludwig on May 15th, 2008 12:35 pm

    “The Maharajah of India Quizzing”?

Come, come. Surely the KQA is less politically incorrect than that?

  29. kqaquizzes on May 15th, 2008 3:15 pm

What should we say? The Mahaperson? The Maharanee?

If a woman wins, like Razia, she will be Sultan:)

Now go away before we get any more insultan.

  30. raktim nag on May 15th, 2008 5:19 pm

  34. ludwig on May 17th, 2008 9:17 am

    > The Maharanee?

Oh, that would be perfect! Imagine the possibilities:

“Samanth Subramaniam, Maharanee of Indian quizzing”

“Arul Mani, Maharanee of Indian quizzing”

    and so on. :)

OK, OK, peace. No need for sultans (in, or otherwise).
