KQA XXIV ANNIVERSARY
We organise a quiz-festival titled ASKQANCE in June every year as part of our anniversary celebrations. This year’s edition was held on Sunday, 24 June, at Guru Nanak Bhavan. Three quizzes were conducted in the School and Open categories.
Dibyendu Das conducted Cognito, a general quiz for high school students. 171 teams took part. The quiz was eventually won by an all-girl team from NPS-Indiranagar (Sowmya Emani and Dipika Suresh). Sri Kumaran’s Public School and Presidency School RT Nagar took second and third spots.
Mitesh Agarwal and Thejaswi Udupa hosted Splitscreen, a Sport & Entertainment Quiz. The QFI-Chennai contingent managed a 1-2 finish after a long but closely-fought contest. 95 teams wrote the prelims.
The third quiz held as part of ASKQANCE was Sesame, an open quiz for teams of 4 members. QFI- Chennai (Gopal Kidao, Swaminathan, Samanth and Sumo) led from the start but had to hold off a spirited last-round challenge from Kutub Quizzers-New Delhi (Udatta Duarah, Dr. Bhattacharya, Kunal Malhotra and Bala) to take first place. Questionable Characters (Dibyendu Das, Vinay, Hiranyappa G.S., and Avinash) finished third.
The award ceremony for Mahaquizzer 2007 was held during ASKQANCE 2007. Prof. Cheriyan Alexander put together a short docu on Wing Commander Mulky’s life for the ceremony. Mrs. Mulky then handed the Wg. Cdr. Mulky Award for Quizzing Excellence to Samanth Subramanian, this year’s Mahaquizzer winner.
Detailed results are put up separately.
