KQA Collegiate Grandmaster Championships
The 16th edition of KQA’s Solo Championships for Plus Two/PUC and College students will be held at the Institution of Agricultural Technologists(IAT), off Queen’s Road, on Sunday, 20 October 2019.
The event will commence at 2:00 pm, shortly after the Lone Cub and Lone Kid quizzes for High School and Middle School, scheduled for earlier that day. This year, we throw open the solo championships to school students interested in participating.

The Programme
Registration: 1:40 pm
Common prelims: 2:00 pm
Plus Two/PUC Finals: 3:00 pm (for 8 qualifiers)
College Finals: 4:00 pm (for 16 qualifiers). Will take about 2 hours to conclude.

What’s New?
- The college finals will culminate in a shoot-out between the top 4 contestants.
- The eventual winner, and the top 7 qualifiers after, will hold the title of College Grandmaster.
- KQA will publish a College Solo Ranking featuring everybody who took part.
- A Collegiate Championship to be awarded to the college whose representatives notch up the highest scores cumulatively.
- The best performances by school, PUC and women entrants will each earn a prize.
- Open Quizzers who wish to try their luck can write the prelims and earn a ranking.

Plus Two: Rs. 2000, Rs. 1500 and Rs. 1000, with Rs. 250 to all qualifiers
College: Rs. 3000, Rs. 2000, Rs. 1500, and Rs. 1000, for the top 4; Rs. 500 for the others in the top 8, and Rs. 250 for other qualifiers.
Best Entrant Prizes: Rs.1000/- in each category.

All those taking part must carry valid College ID
Entry Fee: Rs. 50/-, but free for school quizzers up to Std. X.
Rs. 100 for Open Quizzers who’d like to try the quiz.

School Quizzes on Sunday, October 20th 2019
The Karnataka Quiz Association will host two general solo quiz contests — Lone Kid (for students of Std. V, VI & VII) and Lone Cub (for students of Std. VIII, IX & X) on Sunday, October 20th, 2019.

The Rules:
- Participating schools may field a maximum of 4 participants per category. A maximum of 2 participants per school will qualify for the finals.
- This is a solo quiz — the entrants will take the quiz on their own.
- There is no entry fee.
- No prior registration is required; participants carrying any form of suitable identification can register on the spot.
- Participants must bring pens/pencils & pads; paper will be provided.
- All participants must reach the venue in time for registration (and not earlier, as the hall will open only by 9:00 am.)
- The quiz will cover topics of general interest, requiring no specific preparation. A common written preliminary round will be held to select 8 finalists in each category.
- Prizes and certificates will be awarded to all 8 finalists; plus a prize for the best performance by a girl quizzer.
- The winners will be declared Bangalore’s Sub-junior and Junior Quizzing Champions for 2019.
Students are requested to be at the venue in time for registration.

Quiz Night at The Courtyard on Wednesday, October 9
Join us for edition 10 of Quiz Night at The Courtyard (in association with the KQA) on October 9 (Wednesday) at 8 PM.
Set and conducted by Sai, the theme this month is the 90s – whether you liked Alisha or Aaliyah, Mysterious Girl or the Spice Girls, Yelstin or Clinton or just the Undertaker or Tendulkar, this quiz is for you!
Turn up for this trip down memory lane, where all the questions will be on the politics, sports, science & technology, pop culture, and so on of the 90s!

Wing Commander Mulky Memorial Quiz on Sunday, June 16
The KQA will be hosting the 14th edition of the Mulky Memorial Quiz on 16th June (Sunday) at the Canara Union in Malleshwaram.

The Mulky Memorial Quiz is organised in fond memory of Wing Commander GR Mulky (or WingCo, as he was affectionately known), who founded the Karnataka Quiz Association in 1983 and single-handedly set up the school, college and open circuits associated with the city.
It is an open general quiz that will be conducted by Sujata Sharma and Urmila Lakshmanan for their 6th consecutive edition.
It is a prelims/finals quiz for teams of up to 4. Open to all.
The prelims will begin at 10 AM – and it will start at 10 AM, so please wind up your CTR/Veena Stores activities by then.

A take-to-lunch quiz that requires solving a printed grid containing approximately 30 clues. Most clues will have a predominant quizzing component and/or a cryptic clue. Winners determined on the number of correct answers. Ties, if any, will be broken by time taken.
